Drinko De Mayo - Dos Copas - May 5

Thank you to everyone that came on a MONDAY night. It was the big Cinco De Mayo party for Dos Copas. The place was packed and it was a blast. There was a line out the door most of the night about 20 people long - waiting to get in.

The bar had a fabulous night and we did too.

Thanks to the staff at Dos, to Jake and to Kyle for all the great work.

It was HUGE - Dos Copas - Feb. 22/23

AYE CARAMBA!!! What a weekend. Dos Copas was packed friday and saturday all night long. Management was very close to turning people away at the door several times. It was a huge weekend. Thank you to everyone that answered the call and came out to support us. You really came through for us.

Britt and Lauren gave great performances and we were also joined by Brandy and Josh! Thank guys!

A very cool thing happened Friday night; DJ Steve was introducing us to start one of our sets and he played the original recording of Sweet Home Alabama during the intro. We spontaneously began playing along with the song and pretty soon it was impossible to tell how much of it was the recording and how much was us. But as the song went on, Steve faded out the recording and we took over completely. It was a very cool experience with the whole crowd singing along. Thanks DJ Steve - great lead-in (though, you'll understand if we were a little reluctant to revive it Saturday).

We also made some new friends; Lauren' very cool boyfriend Brian, Felicia, Carla, Carol (Dave's lil' sis).

I was taking notes all weekend:
Got gas? Maybe next time. I finally meet Outlaw II. What's that sound in the next stall?, eeeewwwww...I don't think they can spare a sheet. BANG YOUR HEAD but he wasn't scalping tickets - it was his SCALP. If you bring the dog in: no pants. Who has Lori's tab? Thx Tom! HAPPY BIRTHDAY CRICKET!

Thanks as always to Jake, Drew and (certainly not least) Tammy B. (see her pictures on the photos page or see the slideshow)

Thanks to John, Mario, David, Raoul, Melissa & everyone else at Dos Copas. It was a great time.

til Friday...Thanks so much!!

Figured You Out - @tmosphere - Feb. 9, 2008

Our best night at Atmosphere. The biggest and loudest crowds, the most dancers and the most fun.

With every performance, we want to grab the crowd from the first song, to the last. At most clubs, it doesn't take long to figure out what songs the crowd wants and give it to them. But at Atmosphere, we had not hit a night yet where all the songs worked. Like Rodney said, "Tough crowd." Well, we finally figured it out; They just wanna dance! Well this time, it was hot and heavy from the first song to the last. Yeah.

We also had a very special guest, Lauren Padgett singing with the band. She knocked it out on "Rednewck Woman" and "You Oughta Know".

Thanks to everyone that came out and made it great night.

Headlines: No, it's not Friday - maybe we should move the calendar. "John, sign my boob.", "Uhhh.. thanks dude, but no thanks.". Usually I'd say hat's off, but it was more like shirts off. Wow, how much did those cost? It's not your fault, it's not your fault. Blanton after party separates the Guitar Heroes from the Guitar Zeros.

Thanks to David, Super DJ Don and everyone at Atmosphere. Thanks to Tammy B. for fantastic pictures.

til next time...

HAPPY BIRTHDAYS - Sportsline - Jan. 25/26, 2008

Yes, yes, yes, it was a FAN-TAB-U-LOUS weekend. Just so much stuff!!!

Friday night we did a video shoot. We're excited about seeing the results (well, most of us are. I have my cringe-face ready because I don't think I'm prepared to watch myself). More details to come as post-production work is now being done. We'll probably do it again sometime soon. Thanks to new friends Mark and John for bringing in the equipment and capturing our live show.

Normally, that would have made for an exciting weekend by itself, but much more was to come...

Saturday night was the biggest Birthday Bash we've ever seen. The honorees were 3 of our favorite ladies; Tammy Bridgewater, Pattye and Reese. Happy Birthday ladies, we love you all. It was a memorable night thanks to efforts from Erin, Susie, Lou and the entire Sportsline staff. I don't know if we can ever top this one.

A big milestone was reached as Lou offerred a champagne toast to honor our Twentieth weekend at SL since he and Judy turned it into a great bar. We're so glad they did.

Then Chris Davis sits in with us for few songs. Great job Chris, as always. We pulled out some songs we haven't done lately like Godsmack and Ozzy - looks like we may want to keep those on the regular rotation.

Headlines: Dong cakes, Condom Man, Shots, Sign the wood, but you don't know where it's been. (is there a pattern here?). Daytona?, Nashville, Bill's - show me the money. $128??? Mom thinks you're super cool. Another Blanton after-party greets the new day.

Thanks to Brandy, Josh, Monty & Kyle.

Thanks to Josh & Brandy for joining us onstage and (again, as always) to our friends for making it a fun weekend (Tracey, Cynthia, Ginger, Reese, Susie & Brian, Nicole, Marty, Kevin, John, Ginger, Scott, Greg. Theresa and many more...)

Another top-notch job by David (sound engineer) and DJ Super Don!

We always look forward to going back.

...and thanks to Erin for the after party - chili, shine, surfing the net and Tracey on the wagon.

Nothing but memories. :)

We went into the weekend thinking it might be a bit quiet, since it followed New Years Eve by only a few days. But oh no, we had a great turnout at Dos Copas friday and saturday. We all had fun and the club had an unexpected great weekend.

Just some short comments:

It seems you left your spectacles on my desk.

HO HO HO - Sportsline - Dec. 14/15, 2007

Ahh yeah, it was a frickin' GREAT weekend. The crowds were fantastic and filled with lots of friends. The Christmas party was a huge success and tons of fun - some cool and sexy Pj's and lingerie and a lap dances for Santa. Apologies, but I don't even know who won the Pj contest.

Brandy kicked ASS!!!! All weekend. Josh kicked ASS!!!!

New songs (for us) "The Pretender" by The Foo Fighters and "Santeria" by Sublime really hit well. We look forward to continuing to do those songs.

The guys from Levity made it a party - Bryan sings AND then plays drums on The Immigrant Song - cool!!! Then Brad kicks it for a few Saturday night - HAPPY BIRTHDAY BRAD!!!!

A list of fiends (forgive me if I missed anyone); Millie, Amy and friends, Bryan & Celeste, Brad & Tori, Jason and Regina, Pattye & Mickey, Ed & Eddie, Carmon, Gigi, Nancy, Joey, John, (we welcome) Jessica, Brent, Josh & Lea, Derek, Gary, ReesE(ee, ie, ey...?? IDK), Scott, Brian, Tiffany, Tracey, Erin, Cynthia, Bubba & Ginger, Ginger, Ginger & Tammy (long time no see), Tammy B, Steve, Steve (yes two), John, Kevin, Patrick, Tara, Cricket, Sheena.

Short shots; Frankenstein returns! The whole gang at Waffle House "CAN WE GET SOME COFFEE??" After-party slumber party. You checkin' out my package? Sexy dress Josh, at least Ed thinks so. Dang it, Brad & Jason - you did it AGAIN!

We also welcomed John's Dad ALL THE WAY FROM NEW JERSEY!!!! They seemed to have a very good time.

Thanks always to Jake for that crystal clear sound (and the low-stress enviroment you create for us). We hope you enjoy it as much as we do.

Thanks also to Kyle for such an impressive light show (and welcome back).

@tmosphere - Dec. 1, 2007

Back after just a short break and it was a blast to be back. We brought a new slideshow to play as a backdrop and it was pretty cool (at least I thought so, even the Hasselhoff)- look for more of that.

We also tried a little different stage set up and it kicked ass. The sound on stage was really good (thx David). We played "Runaway" for the first time and looks like a keeper. Still, it's a challenge at @tmosphere to pick the right songs and arrange them well to energize the crowd. It's what makes the place so cool, it's a great venue and it's a challenge to do well there.

Shorts:
I haven't seen Bob in at least 11 years. WAKE UP! Meet man-hands. They'll receive no credit for guilt-attendance. Will was pacing himself. Don't car-jack Steve. Josh got chill bumps and Kenneth got a rash - though totally unrelated.

Thanks to Michael, David & Donnie for making it a great experience. Thanks to Tammy for taking pictures, I can't wait to see them. Thanks Brandy for joining us on Love
Shack.

@tmosphere - Nov. 10, 2007

I just have to say, "I love this place". The stage, the sound system, big crowds and the staff - just about everything. Thanks David, Michael and everyone else @ @tmosphere, you have a great thing going. We look forward to next time.

The biggest challenge at @atmosphere is the crowds are very demanding, bands have to bring their best stuff and keep it going all night long. It's especially fun when things really come together and the crowd is into it. Saturday night, there were A LOT of birthday parties and all were for women. Yeah! So they just wanted to shake it which caught us a little off-guard but we quickly adjusted and went with the dance stuff.

It's a fun place to play and it keeps you on your toes.

Short stuff:
Good to see Eddie again. Cricket dropped by. John needs more buttons on the fog machine. If you can't say something nice, don't say anything at all. "HOW 'BOUT THEM DAWGS!". Don't drop that mic. Tiny, get well soon!

Fall Forward? - Sportsline - Nov 2/3, 2007

Oh yeah, that's right, it's Spring Forward and Fall Backward. What a weekend and Friday night was definitely a night to remember.

Happy Birthday to Britt's Aunt Tracey and friend Collie. And where's the party without Susie, Reese and Celeste? Nowhere, I say. Susie even dragged hubby along for the night. As always, it was good to see Ariel and Kenneth (or was it Joe?).

Things went so well an emergency after-party was called. We should have reconsidered, but who knew it would turn into an emergency-after-party emergency? Or the emergency-after-party-emergency would turn into a party at the emergency room? I can tell you now, everyone's on the road to recovery and only party animals were harmed during the making of this story. Saturday was much less eventful according to the insurance claims.

Thanks:
  • Brandy who joined us Saturday night and did a great job belting out the tunes.
  • Monty for handling the sound duties. It was his first time with us and you'll see him again so make him feel welcome and introduce yourself.
  • Tammy B. for taking AWESOME pictures once again.

CD's are now available for sale - thanks to all - and a few T-Shirts still remain.

Overheard: Breaker Poppin' Daddy's fer sure. - When does a T.V. sound like a person? - It's 3am I must be hungry, awesome burgers Gary!! - Liz, do you have any CSNY? - Drew's ready to go - Play thru the time change? yes, I mean no. - That logo surely looks good on Gigi and Nancy - Bye-bye Woody.

P.S. Did anyone remember to scratch "VWP was HERE" on an exam room wall at the GMC ER?

Ah, maybe next time.

Fun, fun, fun.

We had a special visit from some friends from the west, Douglasville & Hiram specfically. Paul Coleman Memorial Ride - Aug 4, 2007

What a great venue. The Lake Lanier Islands Amphitheater is a very cool place - if it weren't so damn hot! Stuff-was-melting-hot! It was also very cool to see and hear all those bikes riding in.

Some shorts; It pays to be on time. Kenneth is drinking way too much coffee. Kevin needs a nap. What time do we go on? Little "C"? We HAVE to do Bring Me To Life. Birds are Free. Can you feel the appreciation?

Atlanta Audition FINALS! - 7/21/07 - Prague In Motion

After 4 months and 40 bands, it came down to this; the 3 top bands bringing their crowds and cranking it out in one place. All of it in front of the fans, judges, record companies, recording studios, promoters, Project 961 and the Jager girls.

First up was "The Bastard Sons" fresh off an opening slot for 311 at Hi-Fi Buys Amphitheater Thursday night. They put in an energetic set of their ska-influnced rock that fueled their crowd. Next, "Undone" from Anderson, SC ripped through their hard-rocking set much to the delight of all their fans making the drive from SC.

Finally, we took the stage a little after midnight. Our goal was to grab everyone by the "shorts" from the outset and get them out of their seats. I think we did that with a short intro from "For Those About to Rock" (the unofficial AA07 theme) into "Crazy Bitch". The stage quickly filled with all the ladies and from there we tried to not let go until our time was up. The energy was there and it was a blast.

Then the judges were consulted and the results were announced;

  • First: The Bastard Sons
  • Second: Void Where Prohibited
  • Third: Undone

Yeah. It was pretty cool. Obviously, we would have liked to win, but (as a cover band) it was highly unlikely. Dave Farrell announced that since organizing this event in 2003, we were the first cover band to make it to the finals. I think most people there would agree that nobody brought more of a crowd, played with more energy or put on a better show. So how do you really determine "the winner"? For us, it was a great experience. We made a lot of new friends, got a lot of exposure and are very happy with our results.

Congratulations and thanks to both The Bastard Sons and Undone. They're great bands, great guys and we're honored to share the stage with them. One thing really noticeable throughout the 4 months, all of the bands were very cool. We didn't encounter one negative experience with egos, ambition, jealousy, competitiveness or anything like that. Bands were offering their equipment to share and hanging out to support their fellow musicians. Everyone was just having a great time doing what they love.

Just lotsa cool.

A GIGANTIC THANKS TO OUR FANS!!! You took us to the finals. It is only through your support that we can do this. We appreciate it more than you know.

Friends List:
Amy, Barney, Beth, Brandy, Brian & Celeste, Carrie, Charlie, Cindy, Cynthia, Dale & Bruce, Dawn, Eric, Erin, Frank, Gary, Ginger & Bubba, Ginger & Tammy & The Twins, Greg, Jeff, Jennifer & Stephen, John, Josh, Kathy & Steve, Kevin, Lamar, Liz, Patsy, Paul (along with Thomas and his wife), PeeBush, Robert, Ron & Sandra (NOT Diane), Ryan, Scott, Sherman, Tammy B., Tara, Tiffany, Tracey.

New Friends: Lea, Dawn, the Undone and Bastard Sons crowds.

Thanks to Dave Farrell and everyone involved with Audition Atlanta, including Jake who did a great job with the sound. Thanks to the judges for their consideration. That's it.

See you at the Lake Lanier Amphitheater!!!

Atmosphere

Yeah. What a venue!!! A large stage with drum riser, professional sound, lights all in a giant room. Best of all, the place seems like they're hungry for what we do. We played on the bill with two other bands, Halcyon Way and Black As Day. Halcyon Way opened up the night with their brand of progressive metal. Very good musicianship and vocals with unique 2 & 3 part harmonies. Cool guys, too. Black As Day closed out the night out with a high-energy set of modern Metal. Their music, while a bit heavy and hard-edged for some is extremely well done and worthy of a listen to fans of modern hard rock. It's what the music at "Hot Topic" wants to be. We played 2nd starting around 10:45 and playing a 45 minute set. There were probably 150+ people there, not much for a place that big, but they were making some noise. Every song was met with loud and raucuous applause. They were giving it back. Afterwards, it was clear the management wants us back very soon, so look for it in the future. This place is probably the best venue for bands in the area. We look forward to getting back there. New Friends: Tammy (w/ Celeste), Levi (Happy Birthday) and his crew. Bryan of Stuntbox. Friends List: Ginger & Brandi, Celeste, Brandi & John, Kevin, Paul, Tracey, Cynthia, Tiffany, (Jersey) Mike. Thanks: to Tyler for setting the whole thing up and taking good care of us. ..to David for a truly professional setup and sound. ....John for making the lights dance on every song. The Atmosphere crew: Michael, Tyler, David, John, Bryan, Sandi, Heather
